How to Choose a Video Marketing Agency

Posted: FEBRUARY 7, 2019

Maybe you’ve received a personalized invitation in your inbox with the promises of new major leads from someone who guarantees results with video marketing.

Maybe you’ve stumbled upon some great looking videos while perusing social media.

Either way, how do you know how to choose a great video marketing agency once you’ve found one? We’ve come up with a list of questions you can start with:

  1. Do they have a website? Just because you received an email from someone or saw a slick Instagram ad doesn’t mean the agency has an online web presence. If you can find a website, you can continue to the next questions.
  2. Is their pricing front and center? Nothing is worse than trying to find a quote on pricing and only finding a link to a contact form. Ugh, we’ve all been there. Instead of playing hide and seek, find a vendor that is transparent about their pricing. It makes their lives easier and yours.
  3. Do they have actual client videos on their website? Sample videos are one thing, but case studies from an actual client are another. Does their website show/link to a portfolio of videos, or a playlist on YouTube or Vimeo? You’ll want to be able to see if what the agency is creating aligns with your brand’s vision.
  4. Do they have any customer references on their website? If you can find client videos, they should also have references or testimonials from clients as well. Happy customers are usually willing to provide feedback to a company they are glad that they worked with. Be wary of any agency websites without quotes from customers.
  5. Are their product offerings convoluted or confusing? Do you know what you would be ordering if you chose to work with the agency? Are there too many packages to choose from? Are there not any packages at all? Whatever the video marketing agency is offering, it should be clear and concise, so you know exactly what to expect.
  6. Are they accessible? You want to know who you’ll be working with and how to get in contact with someone. Does the website have an “About Us” or “Contact” page that you can easily locate? Are you able to determine who works at the company? If you reach out for more information, do you receive a response in a reasonable time frame?
  7. Do you know what you receive at the end of the project? Using the above information, can you calculate that if you spend $X of money for Y amount of time, you’ll receive Z video deliverables? Or do you think you’ll just get some video content? If you are paying an agency to help with your video marketing, then they should be able to tell you exactly what you’ll receive from working with them.

At the end of all your research, you should be able to get a good idea if the agency you’re looking at is the right fit for your vision for video content. And if you have any additional questions, you should be able to reach out to someone who works there for more information. At the end of the day, you want to find an agency that does all that they can to help your business succeed!
