5 Changes That Make a Huge Difference in Your Property Videos

Posted: FEBRUARY 25, 2019

Maybe you haven’t seen the engagement you were expecting with your property videos? Are you still wishing for that “wow factor” moment but no one who has seen the video is all that impressed?

Instead of just throwing some drone footage up on to YouTube, take the additional time to create a more polished product. I guarantee you’ll get a better reception, and leave a better, lasting impression on potential clients.

Because at the end of the day, your property video is another marketing tool, so make it work for you!

  1. Add Music: It’s easy to find royalty and copyright free music to use in your property videos. YouTube has an audio library with songs available for us (that sometimes require attribution in your video description). It’s a small auditory change but it will keep your viewers watching the entire video instead of getting bored.
  2. Use a Voiceover: You can use the Voice Memo app on your phone to easily record a narration for your video. This is an easy way to point out what you want viewers to notice. It’s also easier to watch a video of a property when you aren’t reading a bunch of text.  Get
  3. Quality Footage: The fastest way to make a video look cheap is to have shaky, low-quality drone footage. Only work with professionals that are licensed to fly commercially. You may pay more than if you pay your neighbor’s teenager to film for you, but the quality will be better and you'll be using an FAA-compliant pilot.
  4. Include Interior Photos/Video: If you have a building on your listing, including photos or videos of the interior provides a well-rounded perspective of the entirety of the property. Property videos are popular enough now that potential clients are expecting interiors to be included. Take the time to have professional interior photos taken or use a stabilizing gimbal to get sleek footage. Pro tip: Don't just walk around recording with your cell phone.
  5. Map out the Area: Including even the most basic map of the area to show nearby amenities, roadways, comparable properties, or landmarks can make a big difference. These are the kinds of things that a potential client is going to ask about anyway, so why not show them in the clearest way possible? If you include this info in your property video, you’ll be providing potential clients with the  pertinent information that they'll already be wondering about.

Improving the quality of your property videos doesn’t take that much effort, but taking the time to work in quality additions will improve the look of your video and the general reception towards them. At the end of the day, your video should convey the most important information in a reasonable amount of time. As long as you’re working towards that goal, you can continue to improve your videos!
